About Advanced Signal Processing and Machine Intelligence Research (ASPMIR)

Advanced Signal Processing and Machine Intelligence Research (ASPMIR) group started in April 2019 with a vision to carry out cutting-edge Research and Development (R&D) projects in Human Inclined Artificial Intelligence (HI-AI) towards societal benefits. The group explores theoretical foundations and fundamental principles in advanced signal processing, applied artificial intelligence (i.e. machine intelligence) and knowledge from core engineering and scientific domains to develop state-of-the-art artifacts (i.e. algorithms, models, datasets, embeddings, architectures, testbeds, products and services) for Information & Communication Technology (ICT), biomedical and educational sectors.

The research group has a wide network of academic and industry collaborators across countries in Africa and around the world. Members of the group have received several research, development, teaching, infrastructure and travel grants from Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC); United Bank of Africa (UBA), Nigeria; Covenant University, Nigeria; Durban University of Technology (DUT), South Africa; National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa; World Bank, USA; Rockefeller Foundation, USA; National Science Foundation (NSF), USA; Google, Ireland; France Development Agency (AFD), France and host of others.
